The year 2010 saw the unveiling of GMC’s smallest SUV, the Granite at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit. Since then speculations had built up until earlier this year when GM finally confirmed the production of the 2018 GMC Granite.
2018 GMC Granite – Overall Designing
Since all sources of information are derived from its concept model, expect GMS to retain that concept design with minor tweaks. Although considered to be smaller than a standard subcompact SUV, the front of 2018 GMC Granite looks massive, almost truck like.

It sports a flat nose that houses an all-black 3 bar horizontal grille which protects the air intake. Complementing it on both sides is a couple of LED projector headlamps bracketed with cornering lights on either side. The front body colored bumper looks classy with that jewel-styled fog lamps that aid driving in poor weather conditions.
GMC claims to make use of aluminum and carbon fiber for more than 80% of its body mass helping it to be light and nippy. This combination takes its curb weight to 3,300 lbs. With a wheelbase of 103.6 inches, GMC Granite 2018 rides on 20-inch standard aluminum wheels which are bigger compared to its competitors.
Talking of the interiors, no confirmation has been received till now. But GMC has hinted at some basic features such as leather upholstered seats, dual-zone climate control and a 7 inch or 8-inch touchscreen that will adorn the central console of the car.
2018 GMC Granite – Powertrain
The only confirmed variant till now will comprise a 1.4-liter Ecotec turbocharged 4 cylinder engine capable of producing 138 hp along with 148 lb-ft of torque. It will be mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission. Though this seems to be pretty less considering GMC standards, yet no other powertrain options have been unveiled till now.
2018 GMC Granite – Other Specifications
GMC will likely opt for standard safety features such as Hill Climb Assist, Tire Pressure Monitoring System, and Traction Control. It is expected to be released by Q3 or Q4 of 2018 while the pricing of GMC Granite 2018 is yet to be confirmed.
